Editorial Declaration and Policies

  1. General Principles JCSI is guided by the values of transparency, impartiality, and commitment to scientific excellence. All editorial decisions are made aiming at the integrity of the publication process and the promotion of research that effectively contributes to the progress of society.

  2. Responsibility for Content Authors are solely responsible for the accuracy of the data, interpretations, and conclusions of their manuscripts. JCSI, its editors, and reviewers act as facilitators of the process, ensuring peer review and overseeing compliance with ethical standards, but are not responsible for any scientific or ethical errors in the published articles.

  3. Copyright and Publication License Upon accepting an article, authors grant JCSI the right of first publication and retain their copyrights. Works are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, allowing use, copying, and distribution, provided the original source is cited.

  4. Article Withdrawal Requests must be made up to 20 days before the scheduled publication date, via written communication to the Editor-in-Chief. After this deadline, the removal of already accepted manuscripts occurs only in exceptional cases, such as proven plagiarism or fraud, at the discretion of the Editorial Committee.

  5. Privacy Policy Personal data (name, email, affiliation) are used exclusively for editorial management, review, and certificate issuance. JCSI adopts the standards of LGPD (Brazil) and GDPR (European Union) for information storage and protection, not sharing data with third parties or for promotional purposes.

  6. Anti-Plagiarism Policy All manuscripts undergo electronic verification (iThenticate). Similarity above 2% (excluding citations and references) results in immediate rejection. Confirmed cases of plagiarism imply a permanent ban from future submissions and possible notification to the authors' home institutions, in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

  7. Quarantine Policy Articles rejected due to misconduct or insufficient quality may only be resubmitted after 12 months, subject to substantial revision and prior approval from the Editor-in-Chief. Serious ethical violations (fraud, falsified data) result in permanent disqualification from new submissions.

  8. Integrity and Retractions Erratas are published to correct minor errors that do not compromise the validity of the results. Retractions occur when there are unequivocal indications of plagiarism, fraud, or data manipulation; the original text will remain recorded with an explanatory note, linked to the DOI, to maintain traceability.

  9. Open Access JCSI adopts a full open access model, making all articles available free of charge. Funding is provided through article processing charges (APCs), ensuring sustainability without imposing barriers to the reader.

  10. Archiving and Preservation Each publication receives a DOI registered with Crossref. The LOCKSS system and other reliable repositories are employed, ensuring permanent digital preservation. Authors are encouraged to deposit their raw data in public repositories (e.g., Zenodo) and include access links in the manuscript.

  11. Commitment to Open Science The sharing of data and supplementary materials is encouraged to promote reproducibility and collaborative advancement. The CC BY 4.0 license reinforces our purpose of making scientific knowledge widely accessible and reusable.

This Editorial Declaration and Policies are in effect since their publication and may be periodically updated to reflect international best practices and ethical standards recommended by bodies such as COPE.
