Abstract

Shrimp trawling combines economic relevance with low selectivity, favoring the recurrent capture of non-target fauna. This study aimed to reassess, from an ecological perspective, the decapod bycatch associated with industrial pink-shrimp trawling on the northern coast of Brazil. A documentary reappraisal of the original case study was conducted by extracting Tables 1 to 8 and the textual results to reconstruct an aggregated taxon-level database. The resulting typology combined occurrence frequency, spatial range, bathymetric range and body size. We confirmed 27 taxa, with a small core of dominant-generalist species and a numerical predominance of rare-restricted taxa. The assemblage showed a markedly asymmetric structure, indicating that the ecological persistence of bycatch depends on a few central components
