Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Welcome to the Journal of Convergent Scientific Inquiry (JCSI) Submission Process!

Our journal is dedicated to publishing innovative research that unites different areas of knowledge — such as engineering, life sciences, and social sciences — to solve real problems and improve the world. Our goal is to share high-quality science clearly, accessibly, and aligned with global standards of excellence, like those of renowned journals. This guide explains how to prepare and submit your work for maximum impact. Read carefully to meet our expectations!

Essential Submission Information

1. Scope and Manuscript Types

  • Original Research Articles: Studies with primary data, reproducible methods.
  • Systematic Review: Applying a protocol (e.g., PRISMA), broad and documented research.
  • Narrative Review: Critical syntheses without a systematic protocol.
  • Short Communication: Up to 1,500 words, for preliminary or urgent results.
  • Case Report: Detailed description of clinical or experimental cases.
  • Letter to the Editor: Comments on previously published works.
  • Opinion Article: Well-founded perspectives from experts.
  • Experience Report: Description of practices or projects applied in a real context.

2. Format and Style

  • Single File: Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
  • Font and Spacing: Times New Roman, size 11 or 12, single spacing.
  • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides.
  • Main Title: Up to 15 words; followed by a running title (≤ 120 characters).
  • Abstract: Maximum 250 words, structured (Introduction; Methods; Results; Conclusion) or as a single paragraph, without citations.
  • Keywords: 3 to 8 terms, in the language of the article and, if in Portuguese/Spanish, include an English version.

3. Authorship

  • Number of Authors: 1 to 15, all with substantial contribution (ICMJE).
  • More than 15 Authors: Requires prior approval from the Editor-in-Chief; additional cost per extra author.
  • Identification: For each author, provide full name, complete institutional affiliation, country, and email.

4. Manuscript Structure

  • Title Page: Title, running title, author list, affiliations, and corresponding author (name, email, address).
  • Abstract and Keywords (see Section 2).
  • Introduction: Context, knowledge gap, and study objective (≤ 500 words).
  • Methods: Full description of materials, procedures, and statistical methods for reproduction. Include ethical approval, where applicable.
  • Results: Objective presentation of findings, with integrated tables and figures.
  • Discussion: Interpretation of results, comparison with literature, limitations, and practical implications.
  • Conclusion: Concise summary of main findings and applications.
  • References (see Section 5).
  • Tables and Figures: Insert in the body of the text, each with a clear caption; figures in high resolution (300 dpi).
  • Supplements: Indicate in the text; send as a separate file if necessary.

5. References

  • Vancouver style (sequential numbering in text) or APA (author-year).
  • Include DOI or full URL for each reference, when available.
  • Prefer works from the last five years and primary sources.

6. Submission

  • Online System: Access [JCSI platform].
  • Via Email: In case of technical difficulty, send a single file to editoraljcsi@gmail.com.
  • Cover Letter: Optional but recommended to contextualize the work's relevance.
  • Conflict of Interest Statement: Include a statement about potential conflicts within the manuscript.
  • APC Payment Proof: Only after acceptance, via PIX (Brazilian authors) or PayPal (international authors).

Failure to comply with these guidelines will result in immediate return of the manuscript for adaptation.

Privacy Statement

The Journal of Convergent Scientific Inquiry (JCSI) recognizes the importance of protecting the personal data of authors, reviewers, and other collaborators. This Privacy Statement describes the practices for collecting, using, storing, and sharing information, in compliance with the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD – Law No. 13,709/2018) and the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Data Collection Only data strictly necessary for the editorial process are collected: full name, institutional email, academic affiliation, address, and, when applicable, ORCID and contact details for issuing certificates.

Purpose of Processing The sole purpose of processing the data is to enable submission, review, editorial communication, and the issuance of documents (e.g., acceptance letters, certificates). The data will not be used for commercial, promotional, or marketing purposes.

Storage and Security Records are stored in secure electronic systems, with access restricted to the editorial team and authorized technicians. Encryption mechanisms and access control policies are employed to prevent unauthorized access, alteration, or undue disclosure.

Data Sharing There is no sharing of personal information with third parties, except when required by law or to fulfill legal obligations (e.g., audits, regulatory bodies). In cases of technical or scientific cooperation, JCSI will only transfer data with a formal agreement and equivalent privacy protection.

Data Subject Rights Authors and collaborators can, at any time, request access, correction, anonymization, or deletion of their personal data. Requests should be sent to the Editor-in-Chief (editoraljcsi@gmail.com), who will respond within a maximum period of 15 business days.

Data Retention Data linked to published articles are retained for a minimum of five years after publication, in accordance with scientific integrity standards. After this period, non-essential information may be deleted, subject to legal and contractual requirements.
